Kershaw Knives

If you've been craving a Rick Hinderer knife, but couldn’t quite part with the bucks, your last excuse has just disappeared. The Cryo is the result of collaboration between Rick Hinderer and the design and production engineers at Kershaw. And we’re sure it will satisfy both your Hinderer craving and the demands of your wallet.

A classic Rick Hinderer design, the Cryo is built of pure stainless steel coated with matte grey titanium carbo-nitride for a no-fuss look that lets the design shine through. Like all Rick’s knives, the Cryo benefits from Rick’s real world experience as a fire fighter and EMT. It’s designed to be a sturdy knife that’s still aesthetically pleasing and feels good in the hand.

For secure blade lock up, the Cryo offers a tough frame lock with lockbar stabilization. The Cryo also features Kershaw’s SpeedSafe assisted opening for fast and easy one-handed opening. Access it with either the built-in flipper or the thumbstud.

Slightly smaller than some Hinderer pocketknives, the Cryo is a superb knife for every day carry. EDC this guy for a while and we think you’ll soon appreciate its virtues. You get the tactical, hard-use looks you’re looking for, a Hinderer design, and SpeedSafe opening in this amazingly affordable Kershaw that’s destined to be the Hinderer for the rest of us.
  • Flipper- May be used on either manual or assisted opening knives. The "flipper" is a protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle.
  • SpeedSafe® - Assists you to open any SpeedSafe® knife quickly and easily with a manual push on the thumbstud or pull back on the flipper; built into many Kershaw best sellers.
  • Frame Lock - A portion of the handle (the knife frame) moves behind the blade to lock it into position during use. This is a safety feature of the knife.
  • Quad-carry- The user may position the pocketclip for tip-up or tip-down, left- or right-handed carry.
  • SpeedSafe assisted opening
  • Frame lock
  • Flipper and thumbstud
  • Quad-carry (tip-up/tip-down; left/right) pocketclip; deep-carry

Pros: Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness, Pocket Clip, Ease of Opening, Lock Type, Blade Material, None
Cons: Weight
An Excellent knife (and thumb stud Realization)
Appreciating this beautifully designed and very affordable E.D.C. Blade. It's sexy in a very masculine way, and equally as functional. For it's size, it feels heavy - when combined with some of it's other qualities, this gives a sense of fineness that is very rewarding to the eye and hand... and brings a smile when in the pocket - like having an excellent automobile parked in the garage. Point down carry is very unobtrusive, thanks to a well designed clip - particularly once one has taken a permanent marker to the white logo lettering on it. As with all such knives, a bit of 'lifting' energy on the clip as it's drawn, makes for a smooth exit from one's pocket. The 'Realization'? Well, like others ( and inevitably so ), I had the sense that the thumb studs were just a showpiece- pressure applied in a usual fashion, seemed to yield nothing but grief. I'd written this approach off, until a bit of casual play yielded a discovery: The thumb studs are indeed an exercise in futility (or knuckle dragging machismo) when pressure is applied more or less 90 degrees to the body of the knife - as it would naturally appear to do. Applying the same pressure, shifted toward the front, however - nearly in line with the frame... and Voila! - suddenly she flies open! (If you're having the same problem with your Woman, suggest reading 'Open Her' by Karen Brody). Some essential strength, regardless, is needed, to make use of this - but they are actually designed to work ... like Life. Enjoy

Cons: Handle Feel, None
Nice knife
Nice knife, comes sharp, quick opening and locks tight. No grips so it's a little slippery and it fits small in the hand.

Cryo Ti
Great knife. Use it for an every day carry. Like everything about it but am a little concerned about the clip. Wish it was a little more stout.
