Description
KS1560: Whirlwind
Kershaw Knives

ONE TOUGH KNIFE THAT'S EVER-READY FOR WORK, UTILITY, AND EVERY DAY CARRYING

Get your hands on a Whirlwind and you won’t want to let go. This one will be your constant companion whether you’re on the jobsite, working in the garage, or doing chores around the house. The first thing you’ll notice is how this big handful of a knife nestles into your palm.

The ergonomic design and the tough, glass-filled nylon handle scales provide a grip that's comfortable, secure, and ensures that you’re always in control of the cut. Next, of course, you’ll want to try out the razor-sharp blade. Just push on the thumbstud and—twack!—the SpeedSafe assisted opening mechanism moves the blade out of the handle and it locks securely into place, ready for use.

The blade is a classic drop-point, perfect for handling a wide range of tasks—pretty much anything you care to throw at it. The blade steel is high-performance 14C28N. Developed in a partnership between Kershaw and Sandvik Steel, it offers excellent corrosion resistance, hardness, and edge retention. In fact, Sandvik considers this the highest-performance steel available that can still be fine-blanked. We would have to agree. But the only way you’re going to know for yourself is to get a Whirlwind of your own.

I looks it up obline and found the best deal here on this site. The customer service was very prompt Helpful and friendly. My boyfriend loves his knife and carries it/uses it daily. Mixed feelings
I have mixed feelings about this knife. For me, I only use this product for light jobs around the house and outdoors. The opening is nice and the grip is comfy, but this knife can't retain an edge very well! The Kershaw Compound, though it may be China built, retains its edge much better. Also, the pocket clip at first was merely something to keep the knife out from the bottom of my pocket. Those who purchase this knife will have to find a way to modify the pocket clip to keep from losing the knife. Overall, good quality, sturdy, good-looking and fast. It is one of the better Kershaw Speedsafes.

Fast Old Friend
I have used this knife for EDC for over ten years, and it has never let me down. It holds an edge, yet is easy to sharpen to razor sharp. I check it maybe once a week, and sharpen on a small Fallkniven ceramic stone (also sold at Knife Center), which I keep in my pocket. I used to use Arkansas wet stones almost exclusively, but find these ceramic stones much better (and no oil required). (Sorry, a digression. A plug for Fallkniven.) I carry the knife it in a flapped shirt pocket, right side, point down. I have the clip adjusted so that it will not fall out of my pocket, but is still easy to draw. I can get this knife out and open in a HURRY. Kinda like a "Whirlwind?" There are no problems with wear, breakage, keeping locked, etc. The blade is now a bit scratched in places, but that is just normal wear and tear. I have several other knives, 'cause I guess I'm a "knife nut," but I cannot force myself to use on of the others for everyday carry. This one works too well. In my view, based on ten years' of wearing this knife, one cannot go wrong with it. It's still made in the USA, so that's good.
