KS1725CB: Junkyard Dog II Composite Blade - G10 Handle
Kershaw® Knives

2008 Composite Blade JYD II, Made in the USA, Designed by Tim Galyean.

The dog in the yard is the Kershaw Composite Junkyard Dog II, a key addition to the 2008 composite blade lineup. It features the rugged look of our popular Junkyard Dog knives, designed by Tim Galyean, but paired with our robust composite blade.

Watch Out. They Bite.

We don’t call them “Junkyard Dogs” for nothing. These knives have a big bark and a loud growl. Bold and built for heavy-duty use, they’re just exactly what knife enthusiasts have been howling for. They’re the made-in-the-USA Junkyard Dog II. They feature a fierce look and sturdy stainless-steel construction for heavy-duty performance each and every time.

The JYD II has light weight G-10 scales attached to a sturdy steel frame. The G-10 offers extremely high mechanical strength and top performance in both wet and dry conditions. Its good looks are enhanced by the JYD signature “riveted-steel” pattern, CNC-machined into the gray G-10. Its larger size is sure to appeal to knife users who want even more bite for their buck.

All the JYDs feature Kershaw’s Flipper opening system, a system so unique that it’s covered by one or more pending or issued US patents. The Flipper is a one-handed, ambidextrous index-finger opening system. The Flipper first builds up pressure, then moves the blade up and out of the handle when the index-finger protrusion is pushed on for easy deployment by either left-and right-handed knife users. A frame lock secures the blade in place, while a removable pocket clip keeps the JYD close at hand.

Even better, all the JYDs are value priced. And that great price is just one more reason they’re sure to appeal to a wide range of knife users who want a tough, versatile knife that’s built for strength and performance—and offers a doggone great look.

Extraordinary knife
The Junkyard Dog designed by Tim Galyean has been a favorite with many of our customers since its release. Kershaw has released a series of versions and this latest one is spectacular. The KS1725CB features their composite steel giving you the use of CMP-D2 very tough steel for the edge and a softer stainless steel for the rest of the blade for better corrosion resistance and to reduce the cost - plus a copper accent where the two steels come together! So, it works great, is not expensive and looks very cool. What’s not to like about this knife?

Better Than Expected
I own dozens of knives yet sat on the fence over the JYD II for nearly two full years! If you are looking for a big, tough blade that is an excellent slicer with surprisingly good ergonomics then the JYD II is for you! I took so long debating purchasing it due to the crazy pocketclip design. To my sheer delight the knife is just SO GOOD I don't mind the clip at all and now that I have had the knife a bit and used it EDC I actually appreciate the clip design and see where and how the wiiide clip shape fits the palm of my hand better than a average straight clip would. The knife came usual Kershaw razor sharp with an even bevel on both sides. Included with the knife is a nifty faux leather Kershaw zip pouch for the knife very cool! The ergonomics of the handle are excellent well thought out and reassuring to the point of what you usually find on much more expensive Zero Tolerance knives. The flipping action is EXCELLENT! The flipper shape takes a little getting used to at first but once you do you will find yourself easily flipping the big blade open using different techniques of action on the big fat flipper I love it! I also love the THICK stainless steel liners the JYD II has which of course means the locking side liner really locks in the blade well. Overall this knife could have just as easily have been another Zero Tolerance knife its built so well and has the perfect ergos and grip positions are all secure and reassuring. BUY IT!
