Shun Cutlery

THE PERFECT TOOL FOR MINCING AND OTHER ROCKING CUTS

The Shun Classic Rocking Knife is the ideal tool for mincing herbs, garlic, shallots, or finely chopping a wide variety of foods, for example, tomatoes for sauces. It is an exceptional tool for mincing herbs to fully release their flavor. Similar to a mezzaluna, the cook rocks the deep-bellied blade across the cutting board to produce a fine mince. The extra-wide blade also serves as a convenient way to scoop up the minced food for easy transfer to the cooking pot or pan. The deep belly of the Shun Classic Rocking Knife also makes it an excellent tool for removing skin from chicken or fish. Shun’s razor-sharp edge makes the task fast and easy, too.

The Shun Classic Rocking Knife is part of the Shun Classic line of tasteful and contemporary cutlery. The Shun Classic line features beautiful Damascus-clad blades and D-shaped ebony Pakkawood handles. Yet behind these handcrafted knives' beauty is function: razor-sharp blades offering top performance. Shun's proprietary high-performance VG-MAX steel, which provides incredible edge retention, is clad with Damascus stainless steel, then ground and bead-blasted, revealing the flowing pattern of the layered steel. The result is a line of knives that are sharp, durable, and corrosion resistant, as well as beautiful to behold. The Shun Classic line also offers you the widest assortment of both traditional culinary blade shapes and cutting-edge designs, so you can always find the right knife for the task.

Shun Classic Rocking Knife ROCKS!
I recently purchased the Shun Rocking knife making it the 10th Shun knife in my kitchen. I own 8 Shun Classics and 2 Shun Edo knives. Shun knives are the best kitchen knives IMO. Their 16 degree cutting edge is razor sharp and holds an edge for a very long time. The Shun Rocking knife is no exception. It is lightweight, thin, well balanced, and razor sharp. The 7 inch damascus layered steel adds a distinct beauty to each knife. The Shun Rocking knife has a unique blade shape with a large belly and a perfect curve for fine dicing without the blade ever leaving the cutting board. Even the pakka wood handles are very well thought out with a "D" shape for better grip in the right hand. I would prefer a slightly longer handle and larger profile for such a large blade but still find it very easy to work with. I've never been disappointed with any of my Shun knife purchases. They're worth every penny and with minimal care they should last you a lifetime. Every once in a while my wife will thank me for providing the best kitchen knives she's ever worked with - and that's priceless!
