About LamsonSharp™
Lamson & Goodnow, maker of LamsonSharp™ cutlery, is the oldest cutlery manufacturer in the United States. Lamson & Goodnow was established in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts in 1837, and rapidly became the premier cutler in the United States.

But as the American passion for home and hearth grew, so did Lamson & Goodnow.

In 1999, Lamson & Goodnow purchased TreeSpirit™, a company that handcrafts professional-quality hardwood cutting boards, bowls, kitchen utensils, and kitchen care products.

HotSpot™ silicone for the home was added to the Lamson & Goodnow family of brands in 2002. Unusual at the time, silicone is now regarded as a staple of the modern kitchen for its high heat resistance, superior flexibility, and nonstick properties.

Versatile Chinese kitchen knife.
Years ago, a friend was going to New York's Chinatown where she would be visiting a Chinese friend who owned a store. I asked her to please buy me a "real Chinese cleaver". I was expecting she'd return with something made in China but she returned with this Massachusetts-made knife. Her Chinese friend said this was the best cleaver in the store. As another poster mentioned, this is not a meat cleaver of the sort that you would use for separating a roast into chops or cutting through chicken bones. It is ok to cut boneless meat with this knife but its main purpose is for cutting up vegetables into the bite sized pieces used in Chinese cooking. It is ideal for slicing carrots into rounds or celery into half moons. You can quickly prepare a bell pepper by cutting it through the stem and discarding the core and seeds. Then slice each half into half inch pieces the lengthwise. Now, here is where this knife shines: your cutting board is covered with the pepper and there's no room for your next vegetable. Lay your knife almost flat on the board and use it to scoop up the peppers. This is much quicker than chasing a few dozen pieces with your fingers! A European style chef's knife can't do this. Another task this knife excels at is shredding cabbage or lettuce. Because the blade is broad, You can more easily hold the knife perpendicular to the board as you turn half a head of cabbage into cole slaw. This knife is very sturdy. To peel garlic simply lay the flat of the blade over the cloves and give it a punch like you were pounding the counter to show you're the boss. The broad blade makes it easy to avoid the sharp edge. The cloves will burst out of the dry skins, ready to be minced. At one time this was one of the few knives I owned. I have some other very nice knives nowadays but this one is still a favorite.

Pros:
Cons:
Just want to point out that one should actually consider what one is ordering without making assumptions. A Chinese Vegetable Cleaver is NOT to be used the way one would use a Heavy Meat Cleaver. A Chinese Vegetable Cleaver is lighter than a meat cleaver and the blade is thinner.

Great Nakiri or Vegetable Cleaver
I saw the review above, and I just had to comment. This knife isn't meant for cutting bones. It clearly says in the description that it is a VEGETABLE cleaver. This is a Nakiri, an Asian knife used for chopping vegetables, not meat. If you try to use it to cut meat, you will have bad results, because it does not have the weight or thickness of a MEAT cleaver, as you noted. But, for its designed purpose of chopping vegetables, this knife works great.
