Pros: Durability, Overall Quality, Refill Quality
A different twist on the tactical pen
The look of this pen is what really caught my attention. I purchased my first Microtech OTF not too long ago, and so I knew this would be a quality product. Far different from current rash of tactical pens on the market, this pen really takes the genre in a new direction. It is very solid, and the mechanism to open the pen is unique. I do feel that it is a little too heavy (my main hobby is collecting fountain pens, and I prefer light pens). The weight of the pen actually means that you need to exercise care when clipping it to thin fabric; a sudden movement will send it flying out of your pocket. It is much more secure in a jean pocket. For the most part, the workmanship is excellent, but there are a few rough edges on the surface of the pen. The mechanism works well, and it feels like it will be working for years to come. I thought the choice of a Pilot refill was interesting in that most pens will use the standard Parker style gel/BP refill. No matter; the Pilot is a great refill and shouldn't be too hard to get.All in all, a very nice product from Microtech.
