Pros: Head Material, Balance, Construction, Weight, Handle Material
Great Small Axe
The first thing I noticed when I got this little axe was how good it felt in the hand. The sheath is nothing special but it works for me as I carry this in my truck or in a pack. My biggest complaint with this axe is that it came extemely dull. So I had it professionally sharpened at Northern Knives here in Anchorage. After that I took it camping and used it to process wood for the camp fire. It bites nice and deep into wood due to the weight of the head and the handle has a nice tacky feeling when gripping it. I choked up on the handle to make fuzz sticks and had no problems. So far the edge has held up. I plan on replacing my small Fiskars axe with this one. The one change I would make is that it should come with no less than a working edge from the factory. Overall I think this is an excellent little axe for the price.
