An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for it's extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel, most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.

Pros: Materials, Handle Material, Weight, Sheath/Scabbard, None
Cons: Overall Quality, Blade Material, Finish
Dull with Poor Edge
This is a beast of a knife, and I believe it to be well made; however, the person whose job it was to sharpen it failed. Knife came more dull than most butter knives and this was difficult to remedy because the grind of the edge was all messed up. Putting the knife in and out of the sheath a couple of times took the coating completely off of one side. Overall, I am disappointed in this knife. I don't buy knives new to fix them. This is nothing new. All of the Ontario products I have purchased have come dull with poorly ground edges. No more Ontarios for me!
