Love It
I plan to use it for camping and fire wood processing. This is a beautiful blade. The fit and finish is excellent. It is light in hand, but thick enough to process wood. The size is just right for a big knife, big enough to chop and baton but not too big like a machete. Overall very high quality and very sharp. The handle is very comfortable and the rubberized material (Kraton) can absorb shock effectively. also it is very sturdy that the metal extended into the handle is thick enough that it can be considered a true full tang knife rather than a rat tang.

Very Pleased with Gen II SP49
Very nice blade. It feels lighter than my GEN II SP51, out of the box it was sharper than the GEN II SP45. Once I see how it performs I'll decide which blade, SP 45 or SP 49, will be the one I carry on my belt. Should be very useful tool in the forests of the Sierras and Cascades.

Great blade but that sheath!
This is my second Ontario knife, I also own and love the SP10 Marine Raider, and this knife is great as well! The handle fits well in my hand, and was amazingly sharp out of the box. I love the shape of this knife, its broad and fairly long, the thickness of the blade is less then the SP10, but it makes up for it for being very nicely balanced and light. I am sure it will be very useful in the bush, preparing wood, skinny a rabbit, and if need too can be used as a fighting knife as well as it is light in the hand. Sadly I had to take 1 star away due to that poor of an excuse of a sheath! I just don't get it, great blade but what a poor sheath, its not like I did not pay enough for this knife! The knife just flops around in the sheath and has a poorly designed strap that goes around the handle. The sheath on the SP10 is no award winner, but it does hold the knife much better. I will make a Kydex sheath for this knife, as it just begs for 1! Any knife making company out there that will make a great blade and backs it up with a great sheath will get my cash next time around!
