Pros: Blade Material, Finish, Handle Material, Weight, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
I usually try and read as much as I can about a knife before buying as I don't have access to a shop where I can handle them before I buy. What little I could find out about OKC and the Ranger knives was vague and inconclusive but the RD7 fitted my brief and being made from 5160 steel I had to give it a go.I have been very impressed, the knife is well made and has so far been great for converting wood and general camp duties. The finger choil that I'm not usually a fan of really allows this big knife to be used for more delicate duties meaning it really is a do it all tool. The scales are a little square but I'm happy with that as it will allow me to shape them to fit my hand better. The sheath is ok but as I spend a lot of time in and around water I will make a concealex one. For the money this knife has go to be the best deal out there and I don't understand why more people aren't shouting about it. If you want a very well designed no nonsense big knife then the RD7 should definitely be on your short list, I'm extremely happy with mine.
