Great knife
perfect knife.. i love it. But the sheath sucks! the velcro opens real easy. Almost lost my precious knife. Anyone who knows where i can buy a good sheath to my RD9?

Another winner from Ontario
I was disappointed by the BK-9 so I was somewhat hesitant to purchase this one but took a chance and was completely impressed. It's well suited to shaving bark, hacking remnants of limbs away from storm damaged trees, etc. Balance point is about 3/8 inch forward of the grip - excellent control. Metal is 1/4 inch thick between comfortable grips. The grip material is really more of a deep olive drab color than black - so much the better. Pity there isn't a photo of the back side of the sheath. They've figured about every way there is to attach it to your 782 gear or cartridge belt or whatever. Peerless customer service from the Knife Center as well.

Ranger RD9 micarta
I recently purchased the micarta handled version of the RD9 Ranger collab with Ontario. I haven't had a chance to really beat the knife up yet but I don't really expect any problems with it. I typically would be considered a moderate user at best. There's a correct tool for every job so you won't typically see me trying to chop through concrete, chains or other such things with a knife. The knife came finished well for a production as opposed to custom Ranger. The grinds were correct, the blade was sharp enough for it's intended purpose, the micarta was finished just right. The 5160 steel is really easy to sharpen as far as steels go. No surprises there. It's known as a fairly tough steel, so using it in this blade as opposed to 1095 makes sense too. I'm sure it will see it's share of chopping, digging, prying and all the other things these type blades are used for by some. The blade feels fairly light for it's size. In my older age I more often than not leave knives home that are too bulky or heavy. This carries well in it's sheath, secure and fairly comfortable. About the only complaint I have is the grip size. It's a bit too small and short for a knife this size. It is smooth with no really bad hot spots, and is fairly ergonomic. Just too small for me. Overall it's one of the biggest bang for the bucks on the market for this style knife. At the price it comes at I don't mind using it like it's supposed to. Joe
