An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for it's extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel, most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.

loved it, i have effectively replaced a $300 large knife with a $20 machete, comes with a crappy cardboard sleeve for a sheath but for the price i can make one. used for 10 day winter survival course combined with small folder, loved it and have ordered 2 more for car and BOB

Nicer than I expected
It's got nice balance with that extra weight toward the front. It's also a couple inches shorter than the "typical" machete, which makes it easier to handle.
