An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel, most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.

Pros: Overall Quality, Weight, Blade Material
Cons: Blade Sharpness, None
awesome overlooked blade
It comes blunt without an edge so you need a file and some wet sandpaper if you wanna convex it. it takes a great edge and holds it pretty well heattreat is good on the 1095 it hasnt chipped or had problems even in severe cold conditions. the handle is boring plastic but its usable. it chops great, wont baton though despite being 3milimeter thick but its more sturdy then a flimsy machete. you cant beat this product with its price. it can easily replace a small foldable saw or hawk. it doesnt come a sheath so i would label this machete a fun project. Its probably the best beater leuku knife you can get for the money.

12" Saw little friend.
I cut brush, vines, roots, roots, and cabbage palms all the time. This is my "close quarter" weapon of choice. This is the toughest little tool on the market. You can spend upwards of a $100. and not come close. I've been swinging Ontario blades since 1969 and I still have my first one. Every thing about this new one is right on except for maybe the contoure of the grip. A little thick, even for my big hands, but no problem to fix. If you guys will just make a hard-shell scabbard fot the 12" ers we will all be Happy!
