Serious heavy duty work knife
First, the measurements shown on this web site are inaccurate, a too common occurrence here. This knife is 3 7/8" long with a main blade that is just over 2 3/4".I use this for general duties around the house and yard but more importantly I use it for casual whittling and serious wood carving. It is very attractive with the stag horn scales even though one seems a little thick at each end. It is heavy and strong like a D-9 bulldozer. The non-blade metal is serious stuff and much more substantial than you find in these new "tactical knives". It is thick and heavy. This extra heft plus the really sharp blades makes it just glide through things that most knives have to work their way through. The precision of the working parts are just as accurate as you expect from Puma....perfect in other words. It is the counter part to my very, very old small Ulster Stockman with carbon steel blades that I use for fine detail work. There are many 440C stainless steel blades out there and they are not all equal. Puma does things to their 440C steel that other knife makers haven't even dreamed of. This produces a superior blade that holds an edge well. For those who need a real work knife this is the one. Best of all, it fits nicely in the watch pocket of my carpenter jeans even at nearly 4 inches closed. Very convenient!YES, I can recommend this to anyone.
