QAQTR1: Quartermaster Knives QTRM5TR QTR-1 H.M. Murdock
QTRM5TR Knives
This small pocket folder is a stout little tank with great design tolerances. The blade is a solid 3/16" thick piece of 154-CM steel and is extremely smooth to deploy with QTRM5TR's proprietary ORB pivot system. Durable slabs of milled G10, torx screw construction, and a deep carry pocket clip make the QTRM5TR H.M. Murdock a viable small tactical folder.

The H.M. Murdock is the knife that inspired an entire range of products for QTRM5TR. In late 2011, QTRM5TR was asked by a fellow CA knife design firm to create a supercharged version of their ultra-successful tactical folder.

The ORB® pivot system and QTRM5TR's trade-dress protected, tri-spoke pivot assembly system are the major upgrades to the frame and styling of the knife. They opted to use a powder metallurgy steel to further enhance the quality of the knife and chose 154-CM for the first production run of 300 numbered pieces.

With the original designer’s permission, QTRM5TR's producing limited numbers of the QTR-1 "H.M. Murdock" and are excited to show enthusiasts around the Country what a little extra ingenuity will do to the performance of an already exceptional knife design.

About the ORB® Pivot System:

The ORB® Pivot System is a sealed ball-bearing technology that is widely considered the second generation of an open-bearing system that is being used by some manufacturers today.

The ORB’s advantages are plenty: dirt and pocket lint cannot impede the track of these rollers, they’re encased. The ball-bearing system tightens the tolerances in and around the pivot of the folding knife, as a result the lock-up is vault tight, yet the rollers allow for almost effortless rotation.

The lack of ‘play’ at any point on the rotational axis of the blade is truly unlike anything currently being made at this price point in the United States.

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Lock Type, Handle Material, Overall Quality, Pocket Clip, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Material
Cons: None
Solid handling
Razor Sharp, great for cutting and the two serrated edges are big and super sharp. The grip in the hands is big for such a small knife, feels like a full size folder, overbuilt like a tank, very smooth opening and locks up early. Good weight for a small knife. Feels like a large knife. Buy One, great price and well worth the money. Feels like a quality Boker in Comparison.
