Rockstead Knives are, in our opinion, some of the best production knives available on the market. With Rockstead's meticulous craftsmanship and unique designs, this semi-custom folder is worth the premium price tag. The HIZEN is the smallest folder in Rockstead's lineup. It features a 2.875" ZDP-189 mirror finish blade and duralumin handles. The scales are connected by just two screws the allows for easy disassembly for cleaning. The opening action is smooth with a solid frame lock to securely keep the blade locked in place. The incredible mirror finish is achieved by heat treating the blade and gradually hand grinding through 400, 600, 800, 1,200 and 2,000 grits wet-dry sandpaper. This is very intense and time-consuming because if any scratches occur during this process, the blade must be sent back to the previous step for refinishing. Once this is complete, the blade will be buffed for the final finish. The folks at Rockstead have mastered this process to give the knife a beautiful finish and sharp edge like no other. Each knife is individually numbered and includes a certificate of authenticity.

With proper maintenance, Rocksteads are known to keep a sharp edge for 2-3 years. Rockstead Knives come with free sharpening and regrinding. You would be responsible for shipping charges to and from Japan.

Rockstead Hizen ZDP
Fantastic knife! I had owned a Rockstead Higo before and always felt it was a bit large. The Hizen, however, fits my hand just perfectly. Flawless function, with only perhaps the tiniest bit of lock stick. I am in love with this knife. So far, I have used it for a variety of light cutting chores around the house -- plastic bags, cardboard, tape, etc. -- and am very impressed with the edge-holding of the ZDP-189 blade. Best of all, this is a great-looking knife! My only con would be the Duralumin handle. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, but I still can't help but feel that it would be better if it was a titanium alloy. That said, I would be very surprised if the Duralumin doesn't hold up to my usage. Thanks for making such a great knife, Rockstead!
