SCTGT005: Geoff "Tank" Todd Dispatchet "Signature" Knife
Geoff "Tank" Todd is the world's foremost military Master Instructor of European Close Combat and lives in New Zealand. Tank has years of experience in close combat and knife design and he created this Dispatchet knife as a specialist machete tactical edged weapon that provides single and double hand grip usage.
In his early days as an exponent of armed and unarmed combat under the instruction of the legendary pioneer of military close combat the late Harry Baldock, Todd was drilled in sword combat ranging from short to medium length swords.
Drawing on this experience and some influences from ancient Roman and Celtic short swords as well as the Fair Sword and Smatchet (two knives designed by William Fairbairn of Fairbairn-Sykes fame and which were used extensively during WWII), Todd set about designing a modern military combined tool and weapon.
The Dispatchet is the result of years of research, development and final design. The double hand grip security designed into the Dispatchet makes it very much a specialist or role specific tool and weapon that provides both slashing and thrusting capabilities and fits well with military combative roles. Balance retention, practicality, craftsmanship and material quality were paramount in the design.
The light weight of the Dispatchet is achieved by using quality materials and the unique design balance characteristics allow minimum effort and maximum outputs and effect. Scorpion Knives hand craft each Dispatchet to exacting standards producing a quality finished piece that provides maximum force level capabilities as a path clearer and enemy dispatcher.
The overall length of the Dispatchet of 20" (51 cm) is not greater than the standard military machete but the capabilities and finish are considerably greater. The balance is incredible in both the single and double grip employments.
The Dispatchet blade is made of steel supplied from Bonpertuis, a specialist French steel maker. It is 420C stainless steel with 13/14 chrome and 0.5 Molybdenum, which helps reduce rusting. The steel is hardened to RC 56. The grips are made from a unique blend of glass filled poly and rubber with thumb groove and side ridges for extra grip. Each Dispatchet comes with a high quality leather sheath made by Paul Cross, a British expert holster and sheath maker now also living in New Zealand.

Leather is known for its durability and traditional appeal. When compared to Kydex it is preferred for its silence when bumped against other objects, as well as blade retention.
A nylon polymer that is lightweight and extremely durable, Zytel can be shaped and textured to provide excellent grip.
