Compound Leverage™
Compound Leverage has become a SOG patented trademark for folding tools. With the same hand pressure you will generate twice the wire cutting and gripping power than all other conventional designs.

Don’t believe us? Use the wire cutter on one of our Compound Leverage multi-tools to cut some hard wire and feel the smooth power- Then do the same with someone else’s multi-tool...

...and try not to bust your hand!

Pros: Locking, Finish, None
Cons: Blade Material
Great Product
I work with bare-base fuel systems so there is a lot of improvising done and of course, proper tools are scarce. I have to cut a lot of grounding/bonding cable (3/32" dia) and using the geared jaws on this is excellent. I replaced an old SOG after about three years of abusive use and found this new one had better ideas built into it like having the two knives on the outside of the tool so you don't have to open up the whole thing to use them. The individual locking mechinisms are an improvement over the one solid piece that was liable to be accidently pressed when in a tight grip. If you buy the EOD version, keep in mind that it does not have a phillips screwdriver on it. Seeing how I don't lay much C4 around fuel systems, I just ordered one from SOG (about $8) and have replaced the C4 punch with a few other goodies including the phillips. Cons: I broke a few of the tools on the previous SOG due to my abuse. The metal used seems slightly brittle. The only reason I write this is because I always used Leatherman tools previously and subjected them to the same abuse with out breakage. Honestly, if Leatherman had geared jaws, I would buy that one in a heartbeat. Hey, if you're not abusing a multitool, then you never needed one in the first place.
