With our Aura line, we built on the traditional ideas of the past and evolved them for the future. We thought about weight, ease of carry, safety and intuitiveness. We studied the original bowie knife created by Rezin Bowie in 1938. We considered utility, ergonomics and comfort. The result... the Aura fixed blade. We used a high impact and tough glass-reinforced polymer handle that is overmolded with a more pliable material for non-slip comfort. We didn’t want a big clunky crossguard that isolated the hand so we adapted the blade design to provide the element of safety and allows greater control. And just in case your extremely sharp and durable edge requires a touch up in the field. Unscrew the carbide sharpener in the back of the handle and reflect that yes, maybe this is a new day in knives. Check out the Aura in multiple fixed and folding blade configurations. Pedigree for the future.

SOG Aura Camping Utility Knife
I use the knife in the kitchen for food prep mostly and find the size and hand comfort the best. it is too large for game dressing but it is fine for food prep

It's a great departure knife. Just at a glance this blade stands out. The round rubber poly krayton handle. Gives you great grip and allows a number of hold positions. The deep jimping gives great traction for no slip fine work. A few down points. A great idea of having a sharpen stick in the handle. However, I feel a ferrel rod would have served the user better. The exagerated choil is a double duty idea. working as hilt and allowing you to choke up doing fine work. I caution against prolong use when doing fine work. Unless you are wearing gloves. One could quickly wear a blister into your thumb. I understand to cut cost to bring this great knife under the $50.00 line. Something had to be sacrafised. In this case it's the sheath. Using velcro to hold the blade in place. I'd rather seen a snap there. An ample belt loop does allow mounting for wide belts. If you fall for this blade, like I have. you might want to hunt for a sheath with multi carry options and a strong retention system. I recomend this knife for regular EDC field service. I feel it to be a good all arounder.
