Description
SOGF12N: Double Headed Axe
SOG

The SOG Double Headed Axe lets you get medieval when you work. Based on the construction and durability of the world renowned Tomahawk, but with a heavier two edged head, this formidable axe can shape, split and cut wood, harvest timber, as well as be used in military/LE operations for breaching, extraction, etc. It is big enough to exert significant power with a two-handed grip but light enough to use with a single hand.

The 420 stainless steel head with a Hardcased black coating is mounted to the ballistic polymer handle with heavy-duty bolts and a steel ferrule to insure the strongest integrity. Carried in a nylon sheath with heavy-duty rivets and snaps.

Bought it for throwing
We (my son and I) have a small collection of throwing knives and tomahawks … I wanted to add a (smaller) double-bladed axe. This axe is awesome … and is currently my favorite throwing item. Out of the box it felt a bit too heavy but after throwing it a few times it feels great. The balance is good, it looks bad, and the extra weight lets it sink deep into the target. I could not be happier with this purchase. The extra bonus is that it was 50% off. As the video warns, it is VERY sharp for an axe … I cut my finger simply handling the axe and it cut like a knife. Be careful.

Good Value
Admittedly I bought this for the cool factor rather than seriuos use. Already have the SOG Tomahawk and the CS TrenchHawk (all similar construction)and thought I would complete the set as I have no serious complaints about any of these products. Back to the axe... Not thrilled with the sheath, no way I would risk belt carry as the sheath is not secure. Best option would be to lash it to a pack by the handle and just count on the sheath for protecting the edge. If you insist on belt carry consider turning the whole rig upside down with the handle tucked under you pack. Much less likely to leave the axe behind by accident not to mention no annoying banging against your leg.

Great value
Just got it, and it's razor sharp right out of the box. Looks and feels solid. I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do.
