Description
SOGSJ51: SJ-51 SlimJim XL
SOG

Our technical assisted folding knife line, stands out by virtue of simplicity and minimalism. It doesn’t try to be the biggest or the loudest in the crowd. It is unobtrusive but always there when you need it. Constructed from a single piece of steel, SlimJim is just that, the slimmest assisted knife in the world. Start to open the blade, and let SOG Assisted Technology (S.A.T.) finish the action with a bang, using one of the surest assisted technologies out there. Tactile bumps and cutouts aid in control while all features are purposeful and functional. The patent-pending safety is used to insure the retention of the blade in the handle as well as acts as a double lock in the open position. The stealth carry clip is reversible.

Pros: Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness, Handle Feel, Weight, Pocket Clip, None
Cons: Ease of Opening
Blade does not always open completely and lock in place. The spring is of the type that used to be used in all of the old switchblades. Was expecting something a little more reliable.

Don't care for lock design
PROS: 1. Good sized blade 2. Light CONS: 1. Lock mechanism can lock blade in the closed position. 2. Somewhat difficult to open quickly; takes quite a bit of practice to be proficient.

Pros: Handle Feel, Blade Sharpness, Weight, Pocket Clip, None
Cons: Lock Type, Lock Ease of Use, Ease of Opening, Overall Quality
Almost a very good knife with some minor hiccups.
This was going to be my EDC knife with a more significant blade length than my other pocket rockets (i.e. cold steel mini tuff lite and spyderco delica), and I have to admit that I really wanted to like this knife. It is indeed the slimmest knife out there, but out of the box there is some minor wiggle in the lock-up. Nothing major, but definitely not rock solid. Also, there was some severe binding where the leaf spring kicks out the blade, that was fixed quick with a silicone cloth wipe down with WD-40. Knife works fine now, and while I like it, the first impression did not win me over.
