Pros: Overall Quality, Durability, Carry Position
Excellent for the smaller Spyderco Knifes
I really like keeping all my knives in padded or lined, lint free cases. This case (and its larger sibling) is perfect for immediately recognizing the Sypderco knives in my collection. Clearly the "18C" is good for protecting and storing ANY knives up to or slightly under a four inch total length (all my Spydercos are folders, so that's the folded dimension), but I like to keep things consistent in my collection and I buy this case only for smaller Spyderco knives - the Native, the UK Pen Knife in particular. I have four different models of the UK Pen Knife from Spyderco, and the smaller stature of this case makes it possible to carry my fancier knives in my luggage, coat pocket, glove box or even pants pocket worry free from scratching, abrading, or jostling with other items (yeah, it's a little bulky in the pants, but in my heavyweight shooting pants the pockets are plenty large to accommodate the width of the case). The cases are NOT waterproof, nor are they advertised as such or designed to be. That said, I have been caught out in a couple rainy days in non rain gear, and, though my clothes were soaked, the knife case did keep water repelled and nothing saturated the inner fabric or got the knife damp. Great little well built case, though I wish Spyderco could find a US factory to make these. The price wouldn't be THAT much more expensive, and I'd feel much better about purchasing the cases. Regardless, excellent product - sturdy, well built, only a little bet of uneven stitching on one of the eight of these that I own. Zippers are excellent and I've opened them dozens of times with no indication of wear or workmanship flaws.
