SPBY10GP2: Robin 2 G-10
byrd Knife Designed by Spyderco

The Robin’s intermediate size makes it a winning crossover for both office or weekend carry. Now it is being offered with a black G-10 laminate handle. G-10 is a woven epoxy filled laminate that’s grippy in the hand, is nearly indestructible, repels moisture and chemicals and won’t retain heat or cold. Flat-ground, the blade is made with high carbon 8Cr13MoV and available with a plainedge or combination plain/serrated cutting surface and has the byrd comet-shaped hole for one hand opening/closing. Jimping (texturing) at the spine and choil keep the folder firmly in your grip creating purchase and control even when cutting strenuously or for long periods of time. A tip-up, right or left-hand pocket clip lets you to clip the folder inside a pocket or waistband.

Pros: Handle Material, Handle Feel, Pocket Clip, Ease of Opening, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Lock Type
Cons: Blade Sharpness, Blade Material, None
Good for its price. Metal can't compare to the Dragonfly, but for those who do not care about shaving sharp status out of the box, this would be a good alternative to the dragonfly. I personally do not know how to make it shaving sharp, nor is the blade thin enough for me to use it like that. Some may be able to sharpen it so that it can cut newspaper like butter. I like the g10 handle to it, as it gives more weight. Others may not like heavier knives. I hate wire clips, so I like how the regular clip was put onto this. I'd give it a 3 1/2 stars but rounded it up.

Handy, small
The jimped choil makes it into a knife with a little blade a big handle, but is still very compact.

Boght this after handling my girlfriends FRN handled serrated version. I like G 10 but this is heavy, solid feeling. The liners are thick. I think I will pick up the FRN version just for the slightly lower weight and the more aggressive grip. It cuts well, feels very good in the hand and as I mentioned, it is solid. It rides well in the pocket.
