SPFB05P2: FB05P2 Temperance 2

The Temperance is a study in control. Its leaf-shaped blade is engineered and primed for rigid treatment. VG-10 stainless blade is full flat-ground to the edge, then we double distal taper the blade, from spine to cutting edge and from nose to tail. All this hampers resistance and friction when cutting, penetrating or slicing.

The cocktail of distinctive blade shape, superior steel with a full flat grind, work in concert to create a knife that will stand up to harsh use and remain reliable. The handle is bead-blasted mocha colored canvas Micarta-contour milled into a three dimensional handful of gripping options. Inside, a skeletonized tang runs the full length of the handle. The Temperance 2 is accompanied by a handsome leather sheath that provides safe, secure carry.

The best of Spyderco!
This is far the best knife on the Spyderco line. It has an excellent feel when it is in your hand. It is extremely sharp and easily sharpened again after a lot of camp use. It dressed up a wild boar with surgical precision. The original sheath left a lot to be desired. I had a custom kidex sheath made for it and now it feels more secured on the belt. I like this knife so much that I purchased a second one and put it in the gun safe in case something ever happens to the first.

A Special Knife
A flat grind, distal taper and mirror finish make this knife exceptionally suited for camp chores. It also shines in the bushcraft area by carving some dandy utensils and fuzz sticks. The knife is nimble and extremely agile. Don't let its looks fool you, this is a very capable survival knife. The VG10 steel takes and holds a superb edge and the hand filling micarta scales comfortably hold your hand to the task without fatigue. The boltatron sheath would not be my first choice for a knife this handsome, but it does offer terrific security and several different carry positions. I own many knives but only a few special ones. This is one of those special knives.

A thing of beauty
I have been admiring this blade online for a year or so and I finally pulled the trigger. The full grind and taper of the blade are simply outstanding and the materials are top notch. It is more massive than I expected, slightly larger than your everyday camp/utility knife. It also seems to limit your hand position to a single, fairly aggressive grip. Time will tell if it is a usable size for me, but there is no doubt that it is well made and a terrific slicer. This geometry is hard to find on production knives. Again, overall more massive and aggressive than my impression online, so I probably won't use it for bushcrafting, as planned, but as a slicer of meat and bone it is terrifying. It will cut things just by pointing it in their general direction.
