Excellent tool for around the yard
I bought this specifically for edging the grass in my yard and it did a fine job of it. Chopping dirt, grass, roots, weeds, and if my aim is off the sidewalk, is extremely punishing to an edge and this hatchet took the abuse well. The fact it shrugged off direct hits to solid concrete was a big plus. The minor dings I got in the edge did little to curb its performance and they weren't hard to fix. This is also a very light weight tool and is a breeze to swing for hours on end. I would also point out that the steel is soft enough to not damage my concrete walk and stairs but hard enough to put up with the abuse that plant matter and dirt bring. I especially like the bright colors which make it difficult to lose. The handle could stand to have a better grip to it and if you happen to hit something solid all the shock is going straight to your hand. While I like the hole because it drops the weight of the hatchet I don't like that things can get caught in that hole.
