Great Knife! Here's why...
This is my second Smith&Wesson M&P knife. This review is a bit long, but I hope informative for potential buyers. Here are some things to take into consideration about this knife: The knife is heavy and bulky. Some people may not like this. Personally, this aspect is a plus for me. The knife operates exceptionally and the blade opens impressively fast. Functionally, I have never had a problem with the M&P knife...BUT keep in mind, the blade (on this particular model) is painted black, so the black will wear in time. If you want to avoid this, purchase a model with an unpainted blade. Also keep in mind that when you affix the knife to your pocket using the clip, the end of the knife body will be exposed (less than an inch) unlike many other knives of this style. This makes grabbing the knife easier, but also makes it a bit more obvious that you are carrying a knife. The clip is tight, the knife will not fall out of your pocket. The clip is oriented so that when the knife is clipped in your pocket, the assist open switch and thumb assist (the two different ways to expose the blade) are towards the bottom of your pocket, allowing a faster draw. If you practice carefully, you can have the knife drawn and open rather quickly. The knife even sounds cool when the blade opens. The safety switch is positioned right where your thumb lands when you open the knife, and is definitely reliable. I do not foresee having to use the window breaker, but it is a nice feature. All in all, I think the M&P knives are awesome and I would buy another one if necessary. For the price, you can't go wrong! (And if for some reason you don't like it, you can give it to me haha). Some people prefer to pay well over $100 for a single blade knife like this, but if you maintain this knife properly, it will last long and perform great. Buy one!
