Pros: Materials, Finish, Blade Material, Overall Quality, Sheath/Scabbard, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
Excellent Fixed Blade Karambit
This is an interesting little knife that caught my attention after I bought the 5.11 Tarani C.U.B. folder (an outstanding knife). The faults with this knife are most easily seen when compared to its brother/sister, the C.U.B. folder. I consider the S30V steel C.U.B. to be perfect. (Some have requested a wave feature on this knife, but I tend to dislike the Emerson wave feature. I don't want a knife that opens every time I remove it from my pocket, which is the case with the wave feature.) And the finger groove jimping and texturing on the C.U.B is especially perfect, which is where I find the only fault with the fixed blade Tarani Karambit. If if had jimped finger grooves, it too would be perfect. The blade material and sharpness are outstanding on this fixed blade. The S30V is a far better knife metal than AUS8, but 5.11 is lowering the cost of its knives, so the better steels have to yield to cost. The sheath is perfect and wonderfully secure. I have had no issues sheathing the blade (it has to be sheathed at an angle--like all curved blade knives).Wonderful neck chain and wonderful belt straps highlight the sheath and make it incredibly easy to carry. Moreover, the sheath is jimped for a thumb to push the knife away from the sheath--awesome feature.

Pros: Blade Material, Overall Quality, Sheath/Scabbard
Cons: Finish, None
Quality knife. Need a few minor tweaks to get a 5 from me
I also noticed how difficult it was to pull from the sheath, but after several hundred reps in/out, it smoothed out nicely. Love the curve of the blade and overall size. I wish it had scales to give the handle a little more to fill the hand. I also have the CUB and love the way it feels. Might have to make myself a set of scales for it. I really like the teflon coating but was a little disappointed by the way it seems to flake off from the rubbing of the sheath. I haven't done any cutting with it yet. Also need a little more texture or jimping. It has some on the thumb rest at the back of the blade but I hold in a reverse grip, blade forward. I'd like to see some on the back of the ring and in the finger grooves. Overall, I'm very happy with this blade. I've carried it for the past few weeks and will continue. It is a quality knife at a great price.

Tactical Tarani Karambit Utility2.5" Fixed BladeS30V
This is one solid heavy knife. The blade has a very sharp edge on it and after testing I found the edge stays sharp. After extensive use the edge can be easily sharpened with a small wetstone. The handle is just a little too large and makes the knifes profile more noticeable as the handle protrudes out away from the body. This can be corrected by adding belt J clips to the kydex sheath. I found the leather loops on the sheath to be almost unworkable to stay clipped if using a 1 and a half inch belt. Fixed that by removing them and using the J clips I use on my holsters. Many have mentioned that the draw of the blade is hard to remove from the kydex sheath. Because the blade is curved for better cutting on your target you can't remove the knife from the sheath the traditional way of grabbing and yanking it up and out. You can remove the blade extremely fast if you always remember as your index finder finds the upper hole to draw the knife bringing your hand forward and not up. (Look at the sheath and you will notice how the blade sits curved in the sheath). The same is true to replace the knife back into the sheath. Overall it is a fine knife. I'd like to see it with just a little smaller handle and the use of clips as opposed to leather snaps. Over all it is a fine knife. Remember as with all tools you need to practice. The knife Center is great to do business with and anything you buy will be received very quickly. Great Prices and Customer Service. Be Safe and Train to Live.
