Pros: Handle Material, Pocket Clip, Handle Feel, Weight, Ease of Opening, Overall Quality
Best bang for the buck
For an EDC at this price point, there is a lot out there- but the Vallotton tops the list. The scales are titanium (frame lock side) and carbon fiber (presentation side), with no liners needed due to the strength of the materials. The kickstart is a good design, typical of other Boker one-handers. Very light weight. Blade is thin, perfect for a lightweight EDC. Size is appropriate, and the overall profile is so thin that with the deep carry clip I hardly notice it in my pocket. Like other Butch Vallotton knives, the shape is great for right hand tip-up in the right front pocket. It just conforms to the seam of the pant leg and doesn't push up when taking a seat. The blade sharpens about the same as AUS-8, but I don't recall the specific steel specified on this knife. A regrind to 19 degrees with a paddle-strop finish makes a light saber out of it. I'm happy. Heck, it's in my pocket right now, what more can I say? Only complaint is the word "China" etched in tiny letters on the blade, but for the price, who am I to fuss?
