I wanted a new do all wood chopper to replace my 30 year old K-Bar for back packing. After looking high and low at every conceivable brand I settled on Tops. Top's execution of Ron Hoods design is spot on. Fit, finish, and balance are excellent. The knife came out of it's sheath razor sharp and ready to hit the trails. There are simply no flause with this knife. The knife's sheath, while functional, is the weak link. If I were Tops Knives I'd be looking at up grading the materials used in the sheath. The design, and sewing are excellent, but the light weight materials used don't match the extrem duty knife it supports. All in all you can't beat this knife.

Pros: Materials, Handle Material, Blade Material, Finish, Weight, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Sheath/Scabbard, None
Tops, None Better
A true woodsman's survival tool, from clearing a camp site or whittle a trigger stick for a dead fall trap this is a knife that can do it. Hood's design one of his best.Fits your hand like it's part of it and if called upon would serve well defending you from man or beast. The steel used by TOPS is 1/4 inch thick 1095 shaving sharp when you get is and easy to resharpen the only downside would be the nylon sheath, a Kydex with carry options would be more useful
