Description
UC2971: M48 Hawk Harpoon with Sheath
United Cutlery

This M48 Hawk Harpoon knife features a razor-sharp blade that will slice through anything like butter, and a tip that will penetrate practically any target effortlessly. The wicked curve of this powerful blade allows it to be used for a variety of purposes. Lashing holes allow you to attach this harpoon knife to a wooden rod or stick, making an excellent harpoon or spear that can be used for hunting, fishing, and much more. Crafted of one solid piece of rock-hard AUS-6 stainless steel with a black oxide coating, this harpoon knife won’t bend or break, and will stand up to tough, repeated use. The rubberized sheath will house this harpoon knife securely and protect you from its razor-sharp blade when not in use. Measures 8-1/4" overall. Made in China.

Interesting Addition to My Gear
Wasn't sure if this would be a useful tool or not- and still not certain. The uniqueness of its design does offer some benefit for survivalists in the deep woods for fishing or skinning game; perhaps some self-defense uses, but overall it will take some getting used to the feel and figuring out full application based on its design. The quality seems good, though. The sheath/Scabbard is difficult for fast withdrawal but if this is used in non-defensive ways that isn't important. Blade seems to be a good design but time will tell the durability as I suspect the narrow "tail" end (hanging over the grip) appears somewhat fragile: may be prone to breaking. Hope this helps...
