Description
WP284NS: Woodman's Pal Military Premium Model 284
Woodman's Pal

A Unique Tool Offering Optimum Performance, Usefulness and Power, Artful Beauty In Its Handiwork and a Proud History In its Design

The Military Premium model, also known since 1941 as the LC-14-B, is our very best model.

The Woodman’s Pal is a brush axe/machete that can perform the tasks of many tools including machetes, axes, hatchets, pruning saws, pruning shears, pruning knives, bow saws, loppers, Bowie knives and for certain jobs, even chain saws. It allows you to trim, prune, blaze trails, brush out lines, remove unwanted growth and build duck blinds.

Designed in 1941 in Pennsylvania by Artist and Engineer, Frederick Ehrsam of Victor Tool Company, these unique high quality tools continue to be made right here in Pennsylvania, with only USA made raw materials.

These All-American tools are made of the highest grade American steel and the best American ash wood by dedicated Pennsylvania craftsmen, and those craftsmen’s precision and attention to detail are testaments of their commitment to our USA Pride: Build it once Build it right.

Today, the Woodman’s Pal is still praised by forest and land managers, surveyors, campers, hikers, hunters, soldiers, handymen, scouts, fishermen, gardeners and any outdoorsman or woman.

Nylon Sheath

Heavy density 1800 denier waterproof cordura nylon with nickel snap and rivet, belt loop and convenient Velcro closure with honing stone. Finished with a Woodman’s Pal® logo patch, this is an excellent alternative to leather.

Pros: Materials, Handle Material, Blade Material, Finish, Weight, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Sheath/Scabbard, None
I had one when I was 14(long time ago) and this new one seems to be made just as well. I bought it as a gift to my son. Good and sharp out of the box, good weight and balance. Chose the nylon sheath. I would have liked the belt loop to have been wider to ride on the belt bettter. Thinking of buying another for myself. Five star tool!

Well crafted
My woodsmans Pal arrived earlier than expected, as soon as I took it out of the package I could tell it was exactly what I wanted. Knifecenter's product preview was very helpful in making my choice, no surprises. Thick heavy gauge steel, a razor sharp edge, leather handle, and well-made sheath, very well crafted. Within minutes I was out in the yard cutting low-hanging limbs in a large viburnum. This was already a good test but could not wait to get to the bush. Took my pal fishing with me down by the river who is great for blazing trails and getting to fishing areas that I had not previously been. Was great for medium and thick limbs that you would not normally be able to use your common machete on. Definitely my new pal when I go to the bush.

Best I have ever used
This is the best hacking device I've ever used. The weight and balance is in good proportion. If you are up against vines, underbrush, or doing some clearing - get this machete. I viewed a few YouTube videos and found most of them helpful in deciding the features I wanted in a 16 inch format.
