Zero Tolerance Knives

HINDERER STYLE, ZT BUILT

The Zero Tolerance 0550 features a bullet-tough blade of Crucible's S35VN stainless steel with a tough black DLC coating. This ultra high-performance steel is a third-generation powdered steel designed to offer increased toughness over S30V, yet be easier to machine and polish. S35VN’s chemistry includes niobium, vanadium and chromium carbides. It is very clean with virtually no inclusion and offers an exceptionally uniform distribution of carbides. It is highly wear resistant and resists edge chipping and corrosion, too. In other words, this high-performance knife can take whatever you can dish out.

Designed by Rick Hinderer, the 0550 is a manual-opening knife yet can easily be opened one-handed with the ambidextrous thumbstud. The 0550 offers the user a secure grip thanks to the contoured handle ergonomics as well as the textured G-10 front handle scale. The back is titanium and is home to a super-secure frame lock with lockbar stabilizer to prevent overflexing of the lock.

For such a good-sized knife, the 0550 is surprisingly light and makes an excellent every day carrying blade. And, thanks to Zero Tolerance’s Quad-mount system, you can carry it tip-up or tip-down, left- or right-handed. The clip is also designed for deep carry, so it sits well down in your pocket.

Limited edition run and individually numbered.

Pros: Handle Material, Handle Feel, Blade Material
Cons: Ease of Opening, None
Built like a tank
Very sturdy, heavy knife that acts like a fixed blade once open. The only problem I have with it is that it is hard to open one handed.

Pros: Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness, Handle Feel, Weight, Lock Type, Blade Material, None
Cons: Ease of Opening
Wasn't what I expected, but it works
I use the product for cooking in the woods, sometimes to whittle, and as a showpiece. Now the first time i got this folder, I was a bit disappointed in the fact that the little ugly white circle that looks like thumbstuds, are not thumbstuds. There blade stoppers, meaning that the obtrusion isn't extending enough for your thumb to grip it and pull the blade open. It isn't a big deal, I can still open it one handed by using my thumb and middle finger to grip the blade and pull it out of detent then use the bladstoppers the rest of the way. It isn't fast like thumbstuds, but it helps me like the knife a bit more. The blade looks tacticool, performs well, and is made of my favorite steel for skinning and survival purposes, s30V. This gives the knife exceptional stain resistance, and edge retention. And as long as the handle doesn't add another 200 to the price, I'm happy with ugly ones that look normal and not flashy since simplicity is more manly and less pricey in my opinion. But if your buying the knife for self-defense reasons, I advise you to go for the 0560 instead, it has a flipper thingy that pops the blade out like a microwaved egg.

ZT 0550BLK
I use it as EDC. I call it as a pocket tank. That knife feels much more better in hands as it looks like at the picture. Clip is not titanium. It tooks about 1000 times opening and some lube to make that blade fly. Its opening pretty fast for the weight of the blade! The knife design to work in gloves because g10 plate is too rough for the skin. That model is one of the best for price and quality on the market. No bearings what makes knife more reliable for heavy tasks. Thx again for KC for excellent customer service!
