ZT0620: 0620 ZT/Emerson
Zero Tolerance Knives
Zero Tolerance and Emerson Knives put their hard-use heads together to create the 0620.

It features a blade of ELMAX powdered steel in a modified tanto style. ELMAX provides the extreme edge retention, high strength, and toughness a hard-use knife demands. High wear resistance in a steel usually means low corrosion resistance, but not with ELMAX. With this advanced steel, you get both properties—which makes it an excellent blade steel. DLC coating enhances performance even more and makes the blade non-reflective.

Of course, the 0620 features the patented Emerson "wave shaped feature" that enables the knife to be opened as it is removed from the pocket. By the time the knife has been fully withdrawn from the pocket, the blade is deployed and ready for use. A small wave-shaped tab on the top of the blade is built to catch on the pocket seam, opening the knife as it comes out of the pocket. This Emerson instant-open feature is a favorite among military, rescue, and law enforcement knife users.

The handle features a machined G10 front scale with a stonewashed titanium back. Blade lock up is ensured with a sturdy frame lock. Hardened steel inserts in the lockbar make it extra durable.

Frame Lock
Frame Lock
Developed by Chris Reeve, it functions like a liner lock but the lock is comprised of one of the handle scales. It's an extremely strong and easy to manipulate lock.
Pocket Clip
Pocket Clip
Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.
Titanium Handles
Titanium Handles
A nonferrous metal, it's prized for its high strength to weight ratio and is often used on higher end knives.
Extremely fine grained powered metal that strikes the balance between edge holding and corrosion resistance perfectly. Much more likely to get a rolled edge than have a chip develop.

Cons: None
ZT has perfected an Emerson creation!
The qualms I had with Emerson were the lock used could have been stronger, the blade steel was too soft, and for such a high dollar knife, could have less quality control issues. ZT fixes all of those problems. I have been carrying this every day for the past several months, and I am now getting the 063 as well. ZT upgraded a CQC-7 with a framelock over a liner lock, titanium frame with a steel insert, Elmax steel courtesy of Bohler. It utilizes standoffs instead of a backspacer, and the steel insert is a HUGE amount of insight on the future of your knife thanks to ZT. The one problem with titanium is the common allow used, 6AL4V, isn't as hard as the super steel on the knive, meaning that over time, from that friction, your frame will wear down and cause blade rock to occur. If you use a steel insert more closely matching the hardness, when blade rock occurs, you replace the steel insert instead of the entire frame. It also acts as an over travel stop, eliminating the need for a lockbar stablilzer. The end result is a clean design that will remain solid and over built for years to come. Overall, it came sharp as a razor, smooth as butter, and came with custom level quality.

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Blade Material
Cons: Weight, None
Great knife for LE
I am currently working in LE and this knife is perfect. It may be heavy but the quality of the knife is one of the best around. I previously used a Spyderco Manix 2 for work, but the Wave feature is amazing. I have heard many people complain about the feature, but when I take my knife out of my pocket it will be used. I have had people say that the feature is dumb/useless but when quick deployment is necessary in a life or death situation the Wave feature is faster than any automatic/gravity knives that I have tested out. Pros: Handle Feel: Takes after the Emerson CQC 7 which to most people who have held one says that they are some of the most ergonomic knives possible. Ease of Opening: Due to the Wave feature this makes the deployment of the blade as fast as you can pull it out of the pocket. Great feature, and if you don't want to use it then you can open it with the stud on top of the blade. Blade Material: ELMAX steel is, in theory, better than S30V steel in all ways. I can't comment on this but that is what they company states. Blade Sharpness: I have never had a blade this sharp sent to me. Some have said that theirs was not very sharp, but I can honestly say that this is 10x sharper than the Spyderco Manix 2 that I purchased. I actually was able to shave my cheek with this knife. I wouldn't recommend it but I tried anyways. Worked well. Cons: Weight: This is a tactical knife that weighs approx. 8oz. This is very heavy to some but the quality and materials of the knife are top notch. I use this knife for EDC and I don't think that it is too heavy. There are some that say that 4oz is max where 2oz is ideal. Whomever you are if weight is a deal breaker for you, sorry but you are missing out on a great knife. ZT quality and products used with Emerson features makes this knife perfect for my use.

Get you one!
I'm using this knife as my EDC and cutting anything and everything that needs it. This knife looks, feels and performs great. My Strider and HInderer took a backseat to this beauty. I like it so much I ordered another of the same model so I can keep one pristine just for viewing pleasure in my collection.
