Zero Tolerance Knives

Zero Tolerance and Emerson Knives put their hard-use heads together to create the new 0620.

It features a blade of ELMAX® powdered steel in a modified tanto style. ELMAX® provides the extreme edge retention, high strength, and toughness a hard-use knife demands. High wear resistance in a steel usually means low corrosion resistance, but not with ELMAX. With this advanced steel, you get both properties—which makes it an excellent blade steel. DLC coating enhances performance even more and makes the blade non-reflective.

Of course, the 0620 features the patented Emerson "wave shaped feature" that enables the knife to be opened as it is removed from the pocket. By the time the knife has been fully withdrawn from the pocket, the blade is deployed and ready for use. A small wave-shaped tab on the top of the blade is built to catch on the pocket seam, opening the knife as it comes out of the pocket. This Emerson instant-open feature is a favorite among military, rescue, and law enforcement knife users.

The handle features a machined G-10 front scale with a bead-blasted titanium back. Blade lock up is ensured with a sturdy frame lock. Hardened steel inserts in the lockbar make it extra durable.

Titanium Handles
A nonferrous metal, it's prized for its high strength to weight ratio and is often used on higher end knives.
Extremely fine grained powered metal that strikes the balance between edge holding and corrosion resistance perfectly. Much more likely to get a rolled edge than have a chip develop.

I'm using this knife as my EDC and cutting anything and everything that needs it. This knife looks, feels and performs great. My Strider and HInderer took a backseat to this beauty. I like it so much I ordered another of the same model so I can keep one pristine just for viewing pleasure in my collection.

Pros: Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
Excellent fighting knife, it will easily penetrate a coat and clothing with the stout tanto blade. The black wash finish is robust and looks like it will hold up to abuse. The grip is good without being abrasive on hands and pockets. Wave feature works every time with authority when drawing from pocket. After breaking it in for a couple of days the blade easily snaps open with a flick of the thumb disk. This is my new favorite EDC and I have many high end production knives including Strider, Hinderer, Zero Tolerance, and Benchmade.

Exellent blending of two iconic brands.
I got my ZT 0620 today in the mail from knifecenter. So this is just first impressions. Fast shipping & great service from KC as usual! I own 7 other ZT models, & 3 Emerson production knives. I knew what to expect. Obviously had to get this one. I collect, & this will be my new strong-side primary EDC blade. I've been carrying my Emerson Horseman for the last several months, I love it, but I needed a change. ZT has never let me down. Kershaw's USA knives & everything from ZT that I own is fantastic, this knife is very nice. Great materials & features, tip-top manufacturing. My 0620 arrived in perfect factory fresh condition. It feels GREAT. Looks great, & is really a nice representation of two legendary companies putting forth their best efforts. There are just two *tiny* minor things that bother my perfectionist/OCD side. I'm picky & super detail oriented. The factory edge is great, but the forward angled portion of the blade feels slightly less sharp than the primary straight edge. Again, I'm an OCD mechanical detail FREAK. Heck, the whole blade will shave hair, right out of the box. It's sharp enough for sure. I also don't have any prior experience with Elmax steel or how it takes an edge...Maybe I'll feather the angled front of the blade against a fine ceramic rod to make it even sharper. Second (& also VERY minor) issue; i like framelocks & linerlocks with a very strong, clicky detent. On the 0620, the liner's tiny bearing definitely mates up perfectly with the detent on the blade tang when the knife is closed. There is a light audible click when the knife closes & the bearing meets the detent. However it's very subtle. You can open this guy one handed without the thumb disc or the wave. This knife will fly open with a mild wrist-flick & nothing else. A knife with a more positive detent would require more force to open. It keeps the blade closed, as it should, I just prefer knives with a much more positive/clicky detent action upon closing. I'm almost positive ZT did this so as to not interrupt the buttery smooth opening. If the bearing & detent were too tight, it would cause the blade to hesitate upon opening on the draw using the wave feature. So again, not a defect, just the ramblings of an obsessive knife junkie. Otherwise, this badboy is dang near perfect. I'm on the fence about getting the carbon fiber fancy version, but I'm sure that one will end up in my pocket a few paydays from now too. I'll shut up now...This knife is outstanding overall. It felt at home in my pocket immediately & rides light for its size. I'm a happy camper & I feel that for a knife of this caliber, that my $ was well spent.
